Ohio University History Assn.'s
2nd Annual Spring Lecture “Was the
Civil War a Just War?”
Appropriately situated during the 150-year commemoration of the
American Civil War, Dr. Aaron Sheehan-Dean from West Virginia University
will present a lecture exploring how both sides framed and critiqued how
they waged war. This event will be discussed in context to other 19th
century national and civil conflicts as well as exploring broader
international laws of war and just war theory. Following the Q&A
portion of the evening, there will be a reception for the audience to
engage Dr. Sheehan-Dean further.
This event is free and open to the public.
Date: Thursday, May 24
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: 135 Walter Hall on Ohio University Campus
